Biography

As an Army brat, I never really had a hometown until I moved to the Washington DC Metropolitan Area in 1968. I then put down roots and worked for the District of Columbia Public Library for the next 36 years. I retired in 2004 and moved to Canyon Lake because my sister and her family lived here. My sister was the Director of the Tye Preston Memorial Library and I began helping with fundraising for a new library building. Sadly my sister died and right before construction was to begin in 2009, I became the Library Director. I retired from the Library in October of 2020. I have three children and one grandchild. I joined the League when I moved to Texas because I knew nothing about how the state or county governments worked. I had known that the League offered voting information but had not realized that it also took positions on issues. I appreciate the process of study and consensus. I have served as Secretary and was President from 2013 to 2021. I am grateful to be a part of an organization that so thoughtfully and intentionally strives to make a difference in our community.
